SEP 13 … Our group flies across America to the Great Salt Lake Valley in Utah as we arrive in Salt Lake City. We have time to visit Temple Square before an overnight in the northern part of the state. Welcome Dinner. (D)

SEP 14 … Today we head north into Idaho to one of the most unique and eerie National Parks …the CRATERS OF THE MOON.  This park is a vast ocean of lava flows with scattered islands of cinder cones and sagebrush. Described as a “weird and scenic landscape”, it is amazing to see this most unusual sight. You will actually feel like you’re walking on the moon. Our group will overnight in Idaho.  (B)

SEP 15 …  RENO … We have a chance to see Shoshone Falls, a waterfall on the Snake River in southern Idaho, approximately 3 miles northeast of the city of Twin Falls. Sometimes called the “Niagara of the West,” Shoshone Falls is 212 feet high—45 feet higher than Niagara Falls—and flows over a rim nearly 1,000 feet wide. Our trail continues into the desolate lands of Nevada with mountains & deserts and multi-colored landscapes. We arrive in the exciting city of Reno for 2 nights.  Dinner in our Casino Resort. (B,D)

SEP 16LAKE TAHOE … Today’s tour takes us to the shores of LAKE TAHOE… It is said that the waters of this lake are 97% pure, remarkable clear and blue, it is 22 miles long and 12 miles wide, with one third of the shore-line in Nevada, and the rest in California.  We take a luncheon cruise on the Lake, and in the afternoon return back to Reno where you have a chance to try your hand at some of the lucky slot machines. (B,L)

SEP 17 … OLD SACRAMENTO … Not far from Reno is the border into California and we follow westward to Sacramento.  The California Gold Rush began at Sutter’s Mill, near Coloma. On January 24, 1848, James W. Marshall, a foreman working for Sacramento pioneer John Sutter, found shiny metal in the tailrace of a lumber mill Marshall was building for Sutter on the American River. When the news got out, this began the 49er Gold Rush.We arrive in Old Sacramento, which has more buildings of historic value condensed into its 28-acres than any area of similar size in the West. The nostalgic appeal of early American history is reflected perfectly by the wooden sidewalks, horse-drawn carriages, old-fashioned candy shops and Mississippi-style riverboats. Group will have time to explore and have lunch before we continue our drive near Yosemite and arrive in Turlock for the evening. (B)

SEP 18 … YOSEMITE … After breakfast, we travel east into California’s most famous natural monument … Yosemite National Park.  Set aside in 1864 by President Lincoln as the nation’s first state park, it became a National Park 26 years later. Our Group enjoys lunch at Yosemite Lodge before taking the Valley Floor Tour which highlights the Mariposa Grove of Big Trees, Toulumme Meadows, Bridal Veil Falls, & the Half Dome.  We exit the park and overnight in Fresno, California. (B,L)

SEP 19… SEQUOIA … A full day of sightseeing as we make the loop into Sequoia National Park. The landscape is covered in the largest of living things .. the giant sequoia trees. Many of these trees are over 200 feet high and over 30 feet in diameter. We see Grant Grove and The Giant Forest in this amazing setting.  The mountains, the greenery, the awesome beauty of these trees, form an unforgettable experience. After the tour, we return to Fresno.  (B,L)

SEP 20LAS VEGAS … Traveling from the mountains we drive across the Mojave Desert of California in route to the “Oasis in the Desert”… LAS VEGAS.  The world famous “STRIP”  should be alive as we see the many sights and huge resort casinos along the Avenue. Farewell Dinner. (B,D)

SEP 21 … Breakfast and we transfer to airport for our flight back to the east after a fantastic trip full of sights and surprises.  (B)

OPTION:  You may want to add one more night in Las Vegas with time to explore and/or take in a show. You can even join the Canyons of the West Tour as well. Contact our office for an extension.
