MAR 27… Loading our motorcoach for the drive to Columbus, GA, we stop for lunch at Yoder’s Mennonite Restaurant before meeting a guide for an interesting tour of Plains, home of President Jimmy Carter.  Tonight everyone will take our seats in the historic Springer Opera House. This beautifully restored Edwardian style Opera House was built in 1871, a National Historic Landmark that was named the State Theater of Georgia by Governor Jimmy Carter in 1971. Enjoy an evening “SINGIN IN THE RAIN” with this famous song-and-dance musical comedy from Broadway.  (L)

MAR 28 … Traveling to Cartersville, GA, our destination is the BOOTH MUSEUM celebrating COWBOY DAYS.  The Booth Western Art Museum houses the largest permanent exhibition space for Western art in the United States and is the second largest art museum in Georgia. The 120,000 square foot museum allows visitors to See America’s Story through Contemporary Western art, Civil War art, more than 200 Native American artifacts, a Presidential Gallery, and the Sagebrush Ranch. The highlight of the day should be the Southeastern CHUCK WAGON INVITATIONAL.   Referred to as “the original food truck” by Georgia Eats, the South eastern Chuck Wagon Invitational is the largest chuck wagon gathering east of the Mississippi River. Teams of cooks will be provided the same basic ingredients and will prepare their own versions of country fried steak, mashed potatoes, beans, cobbler and bread. Everyone has time to enjoy the museum, the exhibits, entertainment, and of course a CHUCK WAGON LUNCH.  Returning home, late afternoon, we can all say “What a great & fun experience for everyone”.
