The wonderful state of Maine with its rugged coastlines, its quaint fishing villages, awaits us as we travel north!  This trip highlights the fascinating beauty of the Maine coastline, its harbors, and climate… featuring quaint Booth Bay Harbor for 3 nights, a Lobster Bake with a chance to have many more. Get away from the heat of the Southeast and enjoy the cooler temperatures of Maine.

JUL 24…   STATUE OF LIBERTY … Breakfast and an interesting stop is planned for Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Our group will board a ferry for a trip to the Statue of Liberty and view the Manhattan Skyline from the water. Later we continue into the “Yankee State” of Connecticut for an overnight.   (B)

JUL 25 BOOTH BAY HARBOR …New England welcomes us into Massachusetts and the Berkshire Mountains. Our trail continues into the ruggedly beautiful state of Maine.   Riding along the picturesque coastline to Kennebunkport, we enjoy time in the village for shopping before continuing to Booth Bay Harbor for a 3 night stay along the waterfront. One of the most scenic of all villages in the state, our home will be the quaint Tug Boat Inn, overlooking the harbor and situated in the heart of the village. The evening dinner is a highlight as we enjoy another traditional Lobster Bake, with all the trimmings, or a chance to sample other delicious choices from the hotel’s restaurant. (B,D)

JUL 26 … FREE DAY IN MAINE Here in Booth Bay, you will have plenty of time to enjoy such a peaceful setting and the many shops scattered around the bay. Feel free to relax, try some chowder, or perhaps take a Whale Watching Cruise with Captain Fish. (B)

JUL 27 … CLAMBAKE AT CABBAGE ISLAND … We board the BENNIE ALICE at Pier 6 and cruise into Linekin Bay. On the way to Cabbage Island we sail past scenic coastlines, vacation homes perched on the rocky cliffs, historic Lighthouses, and a chance to see seals, ospreys and other wildlife. Time to enjoy the beauty of the island before we sit down to an authentic New England Clambake. The meal includes a cup of chowder, 2 lobsters, steamed clams, sweet corn, and potatoes followed by Blueberry Cake for dessert. What a way to end our last day in Maine.    (B,L)

JUL 28 … MARK TWAIN HOME … Breakfast and departing New England we travel south back into Connecticut for an interesting tour of the Home of Mark Twain.  The Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford, was where the author and his family lived from 1874 to 1891.
