SEP 10 … Our group meets at the airport for the transcontinental flight to San Diego, California.  Upon arrival, we transfer to our hotel for 2 nights in this beautiful city proclaimed to be America’s Best.     (D)

SEP 11 … SAN DIEGO … Breakfast and then we enjoy a narrated sightseeing tour of the city that boasts of being  “America’s City with the Best Climate”.  We will visit Old Town and the many interesting sights of this beautiful location along the southern shores of California. A harbor cruise highlights the afternoon before our Special Dinner along the waterfront.  (B,D)

SEP 12 … HOLLYWOOD … Breakfast and we travel north to the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles. Our tour highlights many familiar sights of this sprawling city...The Hollywood Bowl, Grumman's Chinese Theater & the Walk of Fame. We won’t be in city long, as the afternoon brings us into the San Joaquin Valley and Fresno for the night. (B)

SEP 13 … YOSEMITE … After breakfast, we begin our tour of one of America’s most beautiful National Parks…Yosemite. Set aside in 1864 by President Lincoln as the nation’s first state park, it became a National Park 26 years later. The Valley Floor Tour highlights the Mariposa Grove of Big Trees, Toulumme Meadows, Bridal Veil Falls, and the Half Dome.  After a luncheon at one of the Yosemite Lodge, we exit the Park and travel west to our hotel.  (B,L)

SEP 14 … ALCATRAZ … Breakfast and we make the 2 hour drive to the "City By The Bay" as we arrive in San Francisco.  Everyone has a chance to grab some lunch before we take a exciting tour to Alcatraz. The group boards a ferry to “The Rock”, as we visit  this historic and infamous site.  Later we check into our hotel for a 2 night stay.  (B)

SEP 15 …  SAN FRANCISCO & FISHERMAN'S WHARF … Touring San Francisco, we see "The City by the Bay" from many vantage points...Twin Peaks with its panoramic view of the city's 45 hills, Union Square, China Town, Nob Hill, and then finish at Fisherman's Wharf for an opportunity to sample the many seafood dishes made famous here.  Take a Cable Car ride this afternoon and enjoy one of America’s most charming cities.  Dinner tonight will be at one of the fine California restaurants in the Wharf district..  (B,D)

SEP 16 … AVENUE OF THE GIANTS … Traveling north into “Wine Country” through the fertile Sonoma Valley and the Russian River section of the state, we stop for a tour and tasting at one of the local wineries. Our trail continues north into the Giant Redwood country.    Along the "Avenue of the Giants, through both the Humboldt and Richardson groves, we witness firsthand these towering trees that dwarf everything around them.  Our home for the evening is in Eureka, California. Special Dinner tonight at an old logging and lumberjack camp, the Samoa Cookhouse. (B,D)

SEP 17ROGUE RIVER CRUISE … Early morning as we approach the northern border of California and enter Oregon, arriving in the fishing town of Gold Beach. Hold on to your hats, as we enjoy an exhilarating jet boat ride on the Rogue River, a 64 mile adventure, with a meal at Lucas Lodge, an old wood frame rustic home along the river.  Lush vegetation, steep cliffs, and a multitude of wildlife highlight this pristine wilderness protected by the Wild Rivers Act. We overnight near the Oregon coast. (B,D)

SEP 18 … OREGON DUNE BUGGY RIDE … Continuing north along the rugged Oregon coast, with waves crashing into rocky cliffs and pebble-strewn beaches, our group will experience a wild adventure...a Dune Buggy ride on the National Dune Recreation Area with its sand dunes towering 400 feet high!  With a chance to have lunch at Mo’s in Florence and try their famous chowder, a stop at a myrtle wood factory in Coos Bay to shop for souvenirs made from this fragrant wood, our day if full of interesting experiences. Later we arrive in Portland for a 2 night stay. Dinner. (B,D)

SEP 19 … COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE … Our tour today carries us along the scenic Columbia River Gorge with its many beautiful waterfalls, overlooks, and Bonneville Dam with its fish ladders.  One of the day’s highlights should be our luncheon overlooking the spectacular Falls at Multnomah before returning to Portland in the afternoon.  Then we conclude with a tour of this "City of Roses", including a visit to their famed Rose Gardens.  (B,L)

SEP 20 … From southern California to the Columbia River separating Oregon and Washington, we have seen so many sights, but now is time to return home with fond memories of a wonderful time. (B)
