AUG 10 … Depart and travel north through Georgia and into Tennessee for our overnight stay in Nashville. Get ready for a great show as we take our seats for the legendary Grand Ole Opry. (L)

AUG 11… This morning we continue our journey north through Kentucky, crossing the Ohio River, and traveling along fertile Indiana farmlands. From Indianapolis and on we go to the fascinating city of Chicago for a 2 night stay.    (B)

AUG 12… A wonderful day in the “Windy City” is in store as a local guide points out the many interesting sights of this great city. We’ll see old Chicago – the steel mills, huge stockyards, and the railroad coming to town, and the new Chicago – the nations second largest financial center.  We’ll pass famous landmarks like the Wrigley Building,  the Willis Tower (Sears), China Town, The Loop, and drive along famous Michigan Avenue’s Magnificent Mile, with its ritzy shops and department stores. You will have time for lunch at the Navy Pier, a chance to walk Michigan Ave, and enjoy dinner at one of the city’s noted restaurants.  Before the day is over we will take a cruise on the Chicago River. (B,D)

AUG 13AMANA COLONIES … Traveling across Illinois, we leave the big city for the more peaceful life. Iowa, a very rural state known for its grain and corn fields, was settled by Europeans, and one group that found a home here were the German immigrants that settled in Amana. They lived communally until the 1930’s and from a workshop making beverage coolers developed Amana Refrigeration. We will tour the Amana Colonies and have lunch at the Ox Yoke Inn. Returning to the Quad Cities, we check in our hotel for 2 nights.  (B,L)

AUG 14 … MISSISSIPPI RIVER CRUISE … Boarding the CELEBRATION BELLE, today should be one of the special highlights as you take a day-long cruise on the Mississippi aboard the largest excursions vessel on the upper river.  Spend the day on this 100 mile journey as the boat heads up-river from the Quad Cities to Dubuque, Iowa …full of activities and live entertainment, games, skits, narration, and 3 delicious meals, which includes a Prime Rib dinner. Experience the river the way Mark Twain did. In late afternoon, we disembark and return to our hotel.   (B,L,D)

AUG 15LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES … Now we head south traveling the length of Illinois and arrive in Grand Rivers, Kentucky,  the region known as "The Land Between The Lakes". Checking in at the Kentucky Dam Lodge, we enjoy dinner before sitting down to a musical performance at the Badger Playhouse.     (B,D)

AUG 17 … LORETTA LYNN'S RANCH … We are in for a surprise as the group will stop at Loretta Lynn's Ranch for a visit and tour. Continuing south thru Nashville, our last night of the tour is in Chattanooga.    Farewell Dinner. (B,D)

AUG 18…Today we are heading home after visiting the heartland of our country and our hearts are filled with memories of this wonderful trip.  (B)
