AUG 25 …We depart by deluxe motorcoach and travel through Georgia to Tennessee. First night in Nashville with Dinner and a chance to get a good nights rest before our trip to the West Coast.  (D)

AUG 26 … ILLINOIS …After breakfast, we continue our journey across America. Traveling through Kentucky and Indiana, we arrive in Illinois for the night.  (B,D) 

AUG 27 … AMANA COLONY.Crossing the "Big Muddy" into Iowa, we find a very rural state known for its grain and corn fields. Settled by Europeans, one group that found a home here were the German immigrants that located in Amana. They lived communally until the 1930’s and from a workshop making beverage coolers developed Amana Refrigeration. We will tour the Amana Colonies, have lunch at the Ox Yoke Inn, and then continue west. Passing through the state capital of Des Moines, Council Bluffs along the Missouri River, and continue for our overnight in the Sioux City/Dakota Dunes area.  (B,L) 

AUG 28 … BAD LANDS … Our journey takes us across the Great American Prairie into South Dakota.  We'll stop at Mitchell to view the famous Corn Palace before continuing on to the Badlands, an eerie moon-like landscape of multi-colored ravines.  This afternoon, we visit the one and only Wall Drug Store, known for the past 90 years for the free ice water and 5 cent coffee for anyone coming out of the Badlands.  Our day's trip ends in Rapid City, the heartland of the Black Hills, for a TWO-NIGHT stay.  (B,D)

AUG 29 … BLACK HILLS TOUR … Today is a grand experience as we tour the Black Hills and see the inspiring patriotic Mt. Rushmore.  We'll travel along the Needles Highway, turn round and round the Pig Tail Bridges, view wild burros and buffalo in Custer State Park, and visit the unfinished Crazy Horse Memorial. Lunch is at the Blue Bell Lodge high on the ridges of the Black Hills. Great day of touring.   (B,L)

AUG 30 … DEADWOOD & THE RANCH … This morning we visit the Old Western town of Deadwood. In this gold rush village of over 80 gambling halls, it was here that Wild Bill Hickok was killed while playing poker in the Number # 10 Saloon. He was buried in Mt Moriah Cemetery, along with other infamous characters including Calamity Jane.  We board a local vehicle for a narrated tour of this historic town, the cemetery, have time to stroll down the main street & grab some lunch before moving on to Wyoming. A special highlight of the trip, as our group will stay on the RANCH AT UCROSS, nestled in the mountains beside Piney Creek.  We arrive in time to try your skill at horse-back riding, fishing, or just settle into one of the cabins before the dinner bell sounds for a wonderful evening meal. Later the group can enjoy some time at the fire pit, roast marshmallows and join in a cowboy sing-along.  (B,D)

AUG 31 … CUSTER’S LAST STAND & CODY … Breakfast is served in the Ranch House with fresh eggs, bacon, fruit, and hot cakes.  We say “Farewell” to our new friends on the ranch, as we travel north into Big Sky Country for an intriguing visit to one of America’s most famous western sites.  Arriving at the Little Big Horn Battlefield, a local ranger will give a comprehensive talk on “Custer’s Last Stand”, as we walk up to the hill where his band of men lost their lives in an attack by the Sioux Indians and Chief Crazy Horse, in defense of their home and hunting lands. Lunch at the Indian Trading Post, and we return into Wyoming, and cross the Big Horn Mountains to Cody, home of Buffalo Bill. We'll visit the Buffalo Bill Museum and Historical Center, which has the finest collection of western paintings, firearms, and Indian artifacts in America. Enjoy this fun western town tonight.  (B,L)

SEP 1 …  YELLOWSTONE … After breakfast, we travel the narrow winding highway that brings us to America's first National Park, Yellowstone. We'll tour the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and raging Yellowstone Falls, twice as tall as Niagara!  With lunch and a narrated tour of the highlights…and of course, Old Faithful. Keep your eyes open for wild-life.  Continuing along the length of the "Hole" through spectacular Grand Teton National Park, with its jagged mountains rising straight up from the valley floor, we arrive in the resort village of Jackson, with ample time to browse the many shops surrounding the town square.  TWO-NIGHT stay.        (B,L)

SEP 2JACKSON HOLE … Jackson, Wyoming is shadowed by the Grand Tetons, some of the most spectacular mountains in America…rising straight up out of the valley floor. Enjoy the climate, the scenery, and the village of Jackson Hole.  Tonight a Covered Wagon Cookout is planned as we ride in wagons to a camp and open fire for a tasty western meal. SEP 3 … BEAR LAKE & SALT LAKE CITY … Our trail follows the course of the Snake River through serene valleys of farms, and we cross into Idaho. Riding beside the blue-green waters of Bear Lake, we'll make a stop for one of the famous Raspberry Shakes and lunch.  Crossing the rugged Wasatch Mountains like the pioneers before us, we begin to see the small Mormon villages dotting the hillsides. Later this afternoon, we arrive in beautiful Salt Lake City for a stop at Temple Square. Overnight in Utah.  (B)

SEP 4 … Breakfast and we begin our journey westward traveling across the arid lands of Nevada. The oasis of Reno welcomes our group as we arrive for a 2 night stay in one of the resorts in this exciting town.  Dinner Buffet included with time to try your luck in the casino. (B,D)

SEP 5 …Today’s tour takes us to the shores of LAKE TAHOE… It is said that the waters of this lake are 97% pure, remarkable clear and blue, it is 22 miles long and 12 miles wide, with one third of the shore-line in Nevada, and the rest in California.  We take a cruise on the Lake, and in the afternoon return back to Reno where you have a chance to try your hand a some of the lucky slot machines. SEP 6YOSEMITE … After breakfast, we travel into California and begin our tour of one of America’s most beautiful National Parks…Yosemite. Set aside in 1864 by President Lincoln as the nation’s first state park, it became a National Park 26 years later. The Valley Floor Tour highlights the Mariposa Grove of Big Trees, Toulumme Meadows, Bridal Veil Falls, and the Half Dome.  Lunch at the Yosemite Lodge and later we exit the Park and travel to Fresno for 2 nights. SEP 7 … SEQUOIA … A full day of sightseeing as we make the loop into Sequoia National Park. The landscape is covered in the largest of living things .. the giant sequoia trees. Many of these trees are over 200 feet high and over 30 feet in diameter. We see Grant Grove and The Giant Forest in this amazing setting.  The mountains, the greenery, the awesome beauty of these trees, form an unforgettable experience. Lunch in the park is included. After the tour, we return to Fresno.  (B,L)

SEP 8 … HOLLYWOOD … Breakfast and we travel north into the Los Angeles area. We visit Hollywood, with Grumman's Chinese Theater, and time to stroll along “The Stars Walk of Fame” in Hollywood. In the afternoon we arrive along the Pacific Coast in the resort town of La Jolla, completing our journey from Coast to Coast. This will be our home for 2 nights. (B)

SEP 9 … SAN DIEGO … Breakfast and then we enjoy a narrated sightseeing tour of the San Diego, the city that boasts of having  “America’s Best Climate”.  We will visit Old Town and the many interesting sights of this beautiful location along the southern shores of California. A harbor cruise highlights the afternoon before our Special Farewell Dinner at Tom Hams Lighthouse.  (B,D)

SEP 10 …  All too soon, it is time to take our return flight home after a spectacular adventure across 13 states from the Atlantic to the Pacific. What an experience !!! (B)
