OCT 8 … We begin our journey as we travel into the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and into Kentucky as the foliage begins to change… the farther north, the more color. Dinner at the Cumberland Falls Lodge before we check into our hotel near London.   (D)

OCT 9 … We continue our travels northward into Kentucky and the center of Blue Grass Country near Lexington … the second largest city of this state famous for its thoroughbred horses. We see the many beautiful horses and the picturesque farms of the area as we continue into Ohio, and on to Michigan. Our destination is Frankenmuth, a German-style resort village. Bonner's Christmas Store is famous world-wide, and after our stop here we continue into the village for our overnight. Dinner will be a treat in one of the local Bavarian restaurants. (B,D)

OCT 10 …  This morning we enjoy a narrated tour of Frankenmuth before traveling up through the heart of the state of Michigan. Arriving in Mackinaw City, its time to board our jet boat ferry to enticing Mackinac Island.  We will be met by horse drawn carriages and taken to the stately GRAND HOTEL, our home for 2 wonderful nights.  This luxury hotel, with its 800 foot long covered porch, the longest in the World, is an elegant reminder of times past.  The foliage and landscaping should be beautiful on the island this time of year. Dinner is in the Grand Dining Room, where you are treated to a truly 5 course gourmet meal, attentive service, and enjoy the lavish ambiance of the surroundings. (B,D)

OCT 11 … After a “Grand” breakfast, we are entertained this morning by an interesting carriage tour of this resort island where no automobiles are allowed.  We see the island, its natural beauty, and historic homes on this heritage carriage ride. You have time for lunch and shopping in the village on this day that is yours to enjoy at a leisurely pace. (taxi ticket included)   Once again, Dinner in the Grand Dining Room tonight.  (B,D)

OCT 12 … This morning a ferry returns us to the mainland and we motorcoach to southern Michigan and into northern Indiana.  Welcome to the back roads of LaGrange County, home to the largest Amish community in the state …a countryside full of white-washed houses, bountiful vegetable gardens with flowering borders, laundry blowing in the breeze and freshly baked goodies for sale along the roadside. Our stop is in Shipshewana where we will stay for 2 nights. This afternoon we climb aboard Amish Buggies for a ride to a local home for a special dinner prepared by the Amish family living there.  (B,D)

OCT 13 … This morning is highlighted by a tour of this Amish Country.  You will have a chance to see local craft factories, farms, cheese shops, quaint homes and churches. You will have plenty of time to browse in the shops, marketplace, and town.  A special event today, as we enjoy a concert with Marty Haggard, son of legendary country singer and song writer, Merle Haggard.  Later a delicious meal is set up for us at the Blue Gate Restaurant.  (B,D)

OCT 14 ... It’s time to head south through the rolling hills of Indiana, crossing the Ohio River at Louisville, we travel into Tennessee for our final evening together in Nashville.    Ending our trip in style, we check into the amazing Opryland Hotel with its lush gardens and a river flowing through the resort.  Everyone will have a meal voucher to dine at your choice of restaurant and at your leisure.  (B,D)

OCT 15 ... This morning we head home with lasting memories of the beauty of northern Michigan, Amish Indiana and the Grand Hotel.    (B)
