MAY 12TRAPP FAMILY LODGE ... Today, the beauty and the serenity of the Green Mountains of Vermont greet us as we travel through the heart of the state. Our drive takes us through this very tranquil region of gentle mountains, farms, and quaint villages.  We arrive in the resort village of Stowe, known for its ski slopes and the Von Trapp family, from the Sound of Music fame, that settled here.  The Trapp family first started welcoming guests to their 27-room lodge in the summer of 1950. Thirty-three years later the family opened its doors to a new 93-room resort with the same country charm as the original lodge. The Lodge continues to be owned and operated by the Trapp family, the inspiration for the classic musical and movie "The Sound of Music." Our group will enjoy a history tour of the resort, have a Q & A Session with one of the family members, and witness a movie of “The Real Maria”.  Tonight we stay in the legendary Trapp Family Lodge.  (B,D)

MAY 13 … Only about an hour away is the border into Canada. Everyone must practice speaking in French because the province of Quebec adopts French as their first language. Clearing customs it's on to one of North America’s most beautiful and historic cities.  The ancient and walled city of Quebec will be our home for a 2 night stay, and our hotel is only a short walk  into "Old Town". (B)

MAY 14OLD QUEBEC … Today will be one of the many highlights of the trip as we tour this first great settlement of Canada and the oldest walled city in North America.  Founded in 1608, and still decidedly French, with cobblestone streets, outdoor cafes, quaint parks with artists and street entertainers, Quebec City is the closest thing to a European city you'll find without crossing the ocean.  The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the many attractions of Old Town, and tonight we dine at one of the city's fine French restaurants.  (B,D)

MAY 15 … Skirting the huge city of Montreal, we continue our route to the lovely Capital City of Canada, OTTAWA.   One of the world's most beautiful planned cities, Ottawa hosts the largest Tulip Festival in the world. Her parks and gardens are among the most beautiful to be found anywhere.  More than 3 million tulips burst forth each spring in a profusion of color that is astounding to the eye! The Dutch Royal Family supplies the bulbs each year in thanks for the refuge granted them during World War II, and there are more tulips here than in anyplace outside of The Netherlands!  We'll enjoy this scenic and colorful capital and this evening have time in Byward Market with its many stalls of flowers, Canadian handicrafts, and sidewalk cafesDinner in the Market area. (B,D)

MAY 16 ...1,000 ISLANDS CRUISE ... Approaching the St. Lawrence River separating the USA and Canada, we clear customs and pause for lunch in Alexandria Bay at Pine Tree Point, and then enjoy a cruise among the 1,000 Islands...some no bigger than a rock, others with cottages, mansions, and even Boldt Castle, a summer refuge for city-dwellers escaping the heat and hassle of the city.  This lovely area is so calm, cool, and peaceful, that you may just want to retire here!  Overnight in up-state New York.  (B,L)

MAY 17… POCONO'S & LAKE WALLENPAUPACK … Making our way into the Poconos, we arrive at a lakeside resort in the small town of Hawley, PA. We are welcomed into the Silver Birches Resort on the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack for a delicious luncheon, followed by wonderful show full of fun and entertainment. "THE KINGS OF SWING” featuring the Little Big Band put out a big sound specializing in swing tunes like "In the Mood" and "Moonlight Serenade". Overnight in Pennsylvania. (B,L)

MAY 18 … Departing the Poconos, we travel down the Shenandoah Valley with the Blue Ridge Mountains on one side and the Allegheny Mountains on the other. Traveling through parts of West Virginia and Maryland, we continue to Wytheville, Virginia.  We check into our hotel before an evening of entertainment at the Wohlfahrt Haus Dinner Theatre featuring  "THEN SINGS MY SONG" in a tribute to Gospel Music. (B,D)

MAY 19...Breakfast and we make our way across the Carolinas after a tour of historic sights, beautiful flowers, and wonderful entertainment.  (B)
