SEP 14ARCHES NATIONAL PARK ...  This morning drive into Utah to Moab.  Lunch here before we take our tour of Arches National Park ... weathering forces have cut natural arches, windows, and spires into the sandstone, the largest found anywhere in America.  So far over 200 openings large enough to be called arches have been discovered.  Landscape Arch, believed to be the longest natural stone span in the world has a length of 291 feet.  We will visit Devil's Garden, and the Fiery Furnace, and Tower Arch.  Tonight highlights a BBQ on the banks of the Colorodo River followed by a Jet Boat Cruise to witness a magnificent Sound and Light Show over the water on the canyon walls.  (B.D)

GRAND STAIRCASE, CAPITOL REEF NATIONAL PARK & BRYCE CANYON ...  This morning we travel along what is referred to as The Grand Staircase... a geological formation spanning eons of time in a territory of multicolored cliffs, plateaus, mesas, buttes, pinnacles, and canyons.  We witness cliffs, canyons, and domes along Hwy 24 as we drive through Capitol Reef National Park.  Our trail takes us to Bryce Canyon, so beautiful with its domes, spires, and temples carved in the rocks as erosion has cut down a thousand feet into the pink and white limestone creating this natural beauty.  We overnight in Canyon Country.  (B)

ZION ... This morning we travel south through the Salt Lake Valley and into the arid deserts that have shaped so many natural wonders, on our way to "Canyon Lands".  We visit one of the spectacular canyons of the Southwest, Zion National Park.  We wind our way deep into a narrow canyon, isolated by towering buttes and mesas ... Zion National Park, named by the early Mormon pioneers for its serene setting as a natural refuge.  Lunch at the lodge.  We'll leave Zion and continue to Lake Powell in Arizona.  We make a stop at Glen Canyon Dam before checking into our hotel in Page.   (B,L)
