The wonderful state of Maine with its rugged coastlines, its quaint fishing villages, awaits us as we travel north!  This trip highlights the fascinating beauty of the Maine coastline, its harbors, and climate… featuring quaint Booth Bay Harbor for 3 nights, a Lobster Bake with a chance to have many more. Get away from the heat of the Southeast and enjoy the cooler temperatures of Maine.

JUL 21...We depart by deluxe motorcoach and travel up the Eastern Seaboard into Virginia.  Tonight we get acquainted with fellow travelers at our Welcome Dinner, a time to mix and meet your new travel friends.  (D)

JUL 22… The Eastern Seaboard provides our vista today as we continue northward, skirting Washington, DC, and on past New York City. Traveling along the Hudson River, we stop for an interesting and inspirational tour of West Point and the US Military Academy.  Later we arrive in Connecticut for an overnight.   (B)

JUL 23 … New England welcomes us into Massachusetts and the Berkshire Mountains. Our trail continues into the ruggedly beautiful state of Maine.   Riding along the picturesque coastline to Kennebunkport, we enjoy time in the village for shopping before continuing to Booth Bay Harbor for a 3 night stay along the waterfront. One of the most scenic of all villages in the state, our home will be the quaint Tug Boat Inn, overlooking the harbor and situated in the heart of the village. The evening dinner is a highlight as we enjoy another traditional Lobster Bake, with all the trimmings, or a chance to sample other delicious choices from the hotel’s restaurant. (B,D)

JUL 24 … We board Captain Fish's boat this morning for a special expedition, a harbor cruise that passes the many spectacular vacation homes perched on the rocky cliffs. Witness the lobster traps near the jutting rocks along this tranquil coastline. The afternoon is at leisure to relax and refresh in this peaceful setting, where you are free to stroll into the many shops scattered around the bay. Try another steamed lobster.  (B)

JUL 25 … For those that would like to leave the waterfront, we will offer an excursion to Freeport, home of LL Bean. The town is also full of outlet shops, and everyone will have a chance to try some Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream. You may want to stay in Booth Bay and take a whale watching cruise, or walk across the bridge to the Fisherman’s Co-op for some fresh steamed seafood on the docks.  (B)

JUL 26 …  We turn south day and travel into Connecticut, back across the Hudson River and New York, and arrive in the Poconos of Pennsylvania for the evening. Totally different scenery, so enjoy dinner in the Poconos. (B,D)

JUL 27 … Making our way out of the mountains, we stop at Hershey to sample their famous chocolates. Only a short distance is Gettysburg, and we have lunch here and take in a narrated tour of this famous battlefield of America’s War Between The States. Our overnight accommodations will be back in Virginia, with a Farewell Dinner and a chance to remember the many sights of the past days.  (B,D)
