JUN 12MAINE … This morning we board a flight to Boston and continue our drive by motorocoach north into Maine and its rugged coastline. We see Kennebunkport and view former President George Bush’s home, a fortress jutting out into a rocky harbor. Later we arrive in one of Maine’s most picturesque coastal villages, Booth Bay Harbor.  Our home for two nights is the charming Tug Boat Inn, situated on the waterfront and in the middle of the village of  quaint shops, restaurants, and fishing boats. The evening dinner is a highlight as we enjoy a traditional Lobster Bake, with all the trimmings, or a chance to sample other delicious choices from the hotel’s restaurant. (D)

JUN 13BOOTH BAY … Breakfast, & our pace slows as we enjoy the fishing village of Booth Bay, full of specialty and craft shops. We board a sightseeing boat for a harbor cruise that shows us the many vacation retreats in the area, and literally thousands of lobster buoys promising to yield their delicious treats.  The afternoon is at leisure to relax and refresh in this peaceful setting, or perhaps take an optional whale watching excursion. This evening you are free to stroll into the many shops scattered around the bay, or walk across the bridge to the Fisherman’s Co-op on the docks.  (B)

JUN 14 …  BOSTONToday we turn south and travel into Massachusetts, arriving in Boston for a tour of this most famous city of New England. It was here the flames of freedom were fanned as the colonists opposed the taxation from the British and revolted. We will see the location of the “Boston Tea Party”, visit Old North Church of Paul Revere lore, and follow the Freedom Trail.  Later we travel to Hyannis for 3 nights on Cape Cod. (B,D)

JUN 15…  MARTHA’S VINEYARD … New England, that part of our country with such a distinctive accent and unique customs, and we are a part of the experience. Today we ferry to Martha’s Vineyard.  Landing at Oaks Bluff, and begin our tour.  A popular resort and vacation spot for the wealthy, “The Vineyard” has a relaxed atmosphere despite having been a center for the shipping and whaling industries.  Our tour by local bus shows us the cranberry bogs and picturesque cottages of the island’s inhabitants.  Later, we return to the mainland. (B)

JUN 16 … OLE CAPE COD … Today we take the most scenic drive out to the very tip of the crooked-finger strip of  land that forms the Cape to Provincetown.  It was here that the Pilgrims first landed (not in Plymouth as many believe) and we’ll see the Pilgrim Monument, a 252 foot tower commemorating their arrival.  We enjoy a thrilling Dune Buggy ride, and then have time to stroll among the many shops, restaurants, and art galleries that line the main street. Tonight we enjoy an authentic old-fashioned New England Clambake with a bowl of that world famous “chowdah”!  (B,D)

JUN 17NEWPORT & THE BREAKERS …We enjoy a morning tour of Newport, the resort coastal town that was a favorite playground for the “rich and famous”. Focusing on the palatial summer homes of the wealthy, the Rockefellers and Astors, and other barons of industry, it is amazing the way the elite actually lived. We have an opportunity to visit the grandest of Newport’s summer cottages, the famed “Breakers” mansion of Cornelius Vanderbilt II.  Later we overnight in New Jersey (B)

JUN 18 WEST POINT … Breakfast, and we transfer along the scenic Hudson Valley. A highlight is certainly our tour of the United States Military Academy at West Point as a local guide narrates and points out so many interesting and historic sites.  Later we continue into Pennsylvania to Amish Country near Lancaster, PA.   Tonight enjoy a delicious meal and show at the Dutch Apple Theatre.  (B,D)

JUNE 19 … AMISH COUNTRY … Breakfast and a local guides takes us around this interesting and inspirational part of America. You will witness fertile farmlands, homes with no electricity, and clothes hanging out to dry on this morning Amish Tour.  We stop at the Kitchen Kettle for lunch and a chance to purchase local goods before some special entertainment. This afternoon we take our seats in the American Music Theatre for a wonderful musical experience.  After the show, our group enjoys an Amish Dinner to top off a wonderful day.   (B,D)

JUN 20 … FAREWELL DINNER … Making our way out of Pennsylvania, we skirt Baltimore and Washington, DC and travel through Virginia for our last overnight in North Carolina.  Enjoy our Farewell Dinner and a chance to remember the many sights of the past days.  (B,D)

JUN 21 … Breakfast, and we turn our heads toward home after a fantastic New England tour along “Ole Cape Cod” and the rugged coastline of Maine.  (B)
