ALASKA AND THE YUKON

     This is your chance to explore Alaska and the rugged Yukon Territory of Canada on this adventure that is not your standard-type tour. You will experience the luxury of cruising for 3 nights on Holland America's M/S ZUIDERDAM, and then follow the Trail of '98 into the Yukon over the White Pass and into Dawson City.  You will relive the sights and learn of the hardships that the miners faced as they sought to strike it rich on the Gold Rush!  From Dawson City, you will cruise on the Yukon River, and travel through the mountains on the Alaska Canadian Highway all the way to Fairbanks.  With the Rail journeys from Fairbanks to Denali and on to Anchorage, you will see the wild beauty of the area and understand why this is called the Great Land!

DAY 1 ...Meet at the airport and fly to Seattle, where the group enjoys a sightseeing tour of this lovely city of the Pacific Northwest, a Welcome Dinner, and an overnight. 

DAY 2 ... This morning after breakfast our group will be transferred to the port city of Vancouver.  Here you will board your Holland America Cruise Ship and begin your luxury voyage.

DAY 3 ...Cruising the INSIDE PASSAGE

DAY 4 ...JUNEAU is the isolated capital of Alaska, not accessible by land, and a major destination for sea planes.  You may tour this interesting city, explore the shops in town, or even take a float trip out to the Mendenhall Glacier.  You may just want to sit on deck and watch the sea planes land on the water all around you.

DAY 5 ...Our port of call today is the small, but fascinating town of SKAGWAY, the gateway to the Yukon Gold Rush.  Step back in time as you walk the streets of the village where once throngs of miners landed to begin their journey to fulfill their dreams of riches and treasure. You have some time in this bustling village.

DAY 6 ... This morning we gather at the White Pass Railway to follow the trail of so many fortune hunters. The train ride takes us over the White Pass.  Later we enjoy lunch and a walking tour of Lake Bennett, the staging point for river travel to the gold fields of 1898.  Now we reboard the train and travel to Carcross, a popular stopping off place for Stampeders.  From here we go by motorcoach deeper into the Yukon Territory for an overnight stay in WHITEHORSE.   Tonight we enjoy the Frantic Follies and Vaudeville Revue. 

DAY 7 ...  Aboard our luxury motorcoach we follow the Yukon River north, stopping for lunch that is included at Minto. Along the famed Klondike Highway we travel deep into the Yukon to the Gold Rush town of DAWSON CITY ..   We will stay here for 2 nights.

DAY 8 ...  An extra day in Dawson City with time to explore and enjoy some of the optional Dawson & Tombstone Park excursions.

DAY 9 ...  Today we board the YUKON QUEEN for a 102 mile cruise on the Yukon River, with lunch included.  Arriving in Eagle, we are back in Alaska, as our motorcoach meets the group for a tour of the Historic District. We continue to the small town of TOK.

DAY 10 ...  Aboard our luxury motorcoach, with a stop at an authentic Alaskan roadhouse, we travel to FAIRBANKS. An afternoon tour includes Gold Dredge # 8, with lunch.  We overnight here in Fairbanks.

DAY 11 ... Today we board the McKinley Explorer luxury train for the ride to DENALI.  Sit back and relax as the scenery glides by. Upon arrival, you will check into our hotel for a 2 night stay in this spectacular location.

DAY 12... A morning adventure is yours as the group will be escorted on a special wildlife & Tundra Wilderness tour of the National Park and a chance to view MT MCKINLEY, the tallest peak in North America.  Enjoy looking for moose, bear, mountain sheep and elk on this most interesting adventure. The in-depth Tundra Wilderness Tour takes you deep into the heart of the national park.  

DAY 13... More lovely scenery awaits us as we board the Denali Express for the wonderful train ride across Alaska. Our destination is the largest city in Alaska as we overnight in ANCHORAGE.

DAY 14 ... This morning we transfer to the airport for our flight back home after a grand experience of ALASKA & THE YUKON TERRITORY. Depending on flight schedules, we may arrive home on the next day.

 

PRICE INCLUDES:  Roundtrip Air from Savannah, roundtrip transfers, one night Seattle with Dinner and Breakfast, Port Tax, Baggage Handling at the Airport, Government Fees, the Cruise & Land Package as listed.  We are offering each person a $25 SHIP BOARD CREDIT based on 2 per cabin & One DINNER aboard the MCKINELY EXPLORER.  ALL PRICES are based on DOUBLE OCCUPANCY.   Upgrades are available upon request, as well as Single &  Third & Fourth passengers in a room rate.
